Hello, I'm Dr Jo
I work with children, young people, families and carers.
I am here to help children, young people, families and their support network to understand what makes them unique, provide tools to help navigate challenge and support young minds to believe in themselves and their abilities.

My Story
I am a Principal Clinical Psychologist in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in West Sussex.

I have supported people with mental health difficulties for the past 20 years across the lifespan in a range of services both within the National Health Service (NHS) where I have worked for 19 years, Independent Practice and Charities, including Beating Eating Disorders (BEAT).
I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist, gaining my doctoral degree from the University of Leeds in 2011. I have gained a wealth of experience and expertise in psychological assessment, therapy, supervision, consultation and training.

My passion and dedication across my career has been working with children, young people and families experiencing psychological distress and chronic mental health needs.
I have specialist experience working with looked after and adopted children, young people living with chronic health conditions, eating disorders and working with those living with neurodiversity and learning disability.
I have a particular interest in attachment, trauma, identity, shame and child and family issues.
I use an integrative approach drawing on Systemic Family Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Narrative Therapy and value the importance of adapting and integrating these approaches in a dynamic way which respects the strengths, needs and values of the individual.
