I provide a free 15 telephone consultation to help decide and agree how we'll work together.

All sessions are 50 minutes in length and cost £130.

An initial appointment will typically be equivalent to two sessions and cost £260.

Sessions are conducted online or can be arranged in your home (travel costed at the same rate).

Assessment

I will provide a holistic assessment to best understand your individual needs and challenges. I am also able to provide diagnostic assessments which include specific learning and neurodevelopmental assessments such as ADHD and Autism.

An initial assessment period allows me to understand your unique challenges, strengths and experiences and how any difficulties are presenting and interfering within your day-to-day functioning.  It is also an opportunity for you to get to know me, how I work, and how we can work together to meet your goals.

This might be conducted during a one-off appointment (equivalent to 100 mins) or we might agree that we need a couple of sessions.  This can be decided within your 15-minute free telephone consultation.

An initial assessment is the first step before undertaking any further work.

Following the initial assessment period, we will have agreed a plan that you are happy with.  It maybe that we decide that a further specific assessment is required or that we meet for regular sessions – usually weekly.  These can take place either online or within your family home (travel charged at the same hourly rate).

Therapy

I provide direct therapeutic work with children, young people and with the parents/carers, individually or as a family if agreed as appropriate.  I use a range of highly effective, evidence-based interventions so that we can work on managing the current difficulties that you and your family are facing and improve your quality of life.

The therapies that I might draw from include:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Systemic Family Therapy models

  • Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT)

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

The types of issues that I most typically work individually include:

  • Anxiety, stress and worry

  • Specific phobias

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • School based anxiety and school refusal

  • Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

  • Low mood and depression

  • Self-harm

  • Relationship problems

  • Bereavement

  • Family conflict

  • Adjustment to complex life events and physical health conditions.

I have vast experience in working with young people who have a learning disability of a neurodevelopmental condition such as Autism or ADHD and will make suitable adaptations to ensure individual needs are suitably accommodated for.

My sessions are 50 minutes in length.  If I work directly with children and young people then I would agree beforehand how to ‘feedback’ to parents/ carers in a way that is comfortable to all.  Alternatively, we may agree that it is more helpful for me to meet just with parents to see how changes in the adults can impact young people.  More often it will be a combination of the above.

I work to ensure that therapy is a safe place where you can open-up without fear of judgement and where your contributions are valued.

Consultation

A consultation will give you the point of view from a Principal Clinical Psychologist.  This can involve working with parents and carers, professionals in educational settings such as schools as well as other organisations.

A consultation can include an assessment of need, a chance to ask any questions about a recent diagnosis or concern or an opportunity to answer questions about psychology, mental health or to get ad hoc supervision for professional colleagues seeking a psychologists’ experience and expertise.

All consultations will be couched in up-to-date knowledge, psychological research and experience to date and will provide a systemic, holistic and diagnostic lens to understand your difficulties and empower you to decide on any next steps.
